Bill's coaching has visibly improved the presentation skills and confidence level of a diverse group involved in new business presentations, including non-sales staff with little prior experience presenting to clients."

The following are brief, general descriptions of our services. We always provide a more detailed proposal after we have discussed needs and objectives with a potential client.

Workshops

Coaching enables presenters to put theory into practice. They get the guidance they need to successfully work presentation principles into their own speaking performances.

But, what if there are principles they haven't learned yet?

The answer is a workshop that provides the needed teaching—with an emphasis on active learning.

Our workshops put coached practice at the center and then build out with the needed teaching modules. This modular approach makes it possible to create customized training without custom fees.

Possible learning modules include:

  • Planning & Organization
  • Delivery
  • Handling Questions
  • Difficult Audience Behavior
  • Audience Participation
  • Visual Aids
  • Impromptu Speaking
  • Persuasion
  • Facilitating

Workshops range from half-days to two full days. The average is one, full day. Class size ranges from an optimal 7 to a maximum 10.

Group Coaching

As teaching modules become less needed it becomes possible to make coached performance the whole focus of a session.

Group work has the advantage of keeping the cost-per-person down (compared to individual coaching) and it combines professional coaching with peer feedback. Participants gain the extra benefit of sharing best practices with each other.

A common reason for group coaching is that several people in an organization are being tasked with presenting the same material.

Group coaching sessions are typically either a half-day or full-day. Small groups of 4-5 are recommended.

Team Coaching

The best team presentations are so well coordinated that they come across to the audience as a single presentation—not multiple presentations loosely cobbled together.

Coaching is valuable when a team is new and this level of unity needs to be established. It also offers an answer to the poor or inconsistent results an ongoing team is experiencing.

The time devoted to team coaching varies based on how much the coach is involved in the development of a presentation the team will be delivering. Development work can be web-based. Face-to-face sessions are typically a half-day long.

Individual Coaching

One-on-one coaching should be considered when an individual faces a crucial presentation in the life of the organization or in his or her career. So much is riding on this presentation that the investment makes sense.

One-on-one coaching can also be the answer if an individual has reached a high level of responsibility and has developmental needs that can no longer be realistically addressed in a workshop or group setting.

The duration of individual coaching varies depending on whether the effort is developmental or focused on a specific presentation. Developmental efforts typically involve a block of hours that are used as best suited for the need. Work on a specific presentation is typically a combination of web-based planning and 2-3 hour, face-to-face coaching sessions.

Presentation Consulting

We at STEELE have critiqued and recommended improvements to thousands upon thousands of presentations in workshops and coaching sessions for close to twenty years. The range of topics has been extraordinary.

This experience has honed our ability to quickly analyze a presentation and identify what can be done to better focus and strengthen its message.

Authors use "book doctors" to get their work ready for publication. Our consulting clients use us as "presentation doctors" to get their presentations ready to deliver in high-stakes environments.

Consulting can be done in-person or via web-conferencing, and can be scheduled in time segments as small as two hours.
